Tess Rankin (Ankara, Turkey '08) received a CLS Alumni Development Fund grant to continue studying Turkish in summer 2011.

If your Turkish is rusty (or nonexistent!), please see Tess' English translation below:
When I started recording on my laptop, we talked a little about
the advantages and disadvantages of Macs and PCs. Then we talked about an
upcoming trip to California, packing, finding someone to watch my family's cat,
what books I'd take, etc. We talked about the friends I'd visit, where I'd met
them, what they'd studied, and what they're doing now. We talked briefly about
grad school options in California and the pros and cons of moving far from
home. I talked a little bit about living in Spain for a year and told the story
of a friend who had gone to Europe to look for work. I talked about the friends
I have in New York who are working and about how they found work there after
college. I explained the job of a friend of mine who is part of a theater group
that creates plays from children's writings. And we talked about the risks of
moving to a new city without a job or plan there.
Cok iyi! Insallah I will learn to speak this well also!
